Nelson Community Services is seeking a temporary part -time (14 hrs per week) Child and Youth Counsellor in the Sexual Abuse Intervention Program (SAIP). The incumbent provides support to children and youth who have experienced sexual abuse. The program enhances family and community involvement, mutual support, and capacity development in support of mental health services for children and youth. The program aims to reduce incidence, impact, and severity of serious mental disorders by reducing risk of developing disorders, identifying mental health problems earlier, and intervening earlier. Focus is on reducing risk factors and increasing resiliency factors. This position starts immediately and is for a period of six months, with the possibility of becoming a permanent position.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in human services from an accredited post-secondary institution and training and experience based in child sexual abuse treatment.
Experience:
A minimum of four (4) years’ recent, related counseling experience with children who have experienced trauma or sexual abuse.

Other Information:
- The position receives an additional 10.6% in lieu of benefits. There are no extended health benefits attached to this position
- The position requires Union membership with BCGEU.
- The wage is consistent with Wage Grid 14P [$40.03 to $50.59.] of the Collective Agreement.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours to meet program needs
- Must hold a valid Frist Aid certificate
