Nelson Community Services is seeking a temporary part‑time Child and Youth Counsellor (14 hours per week) for our PEACE Program. This 6‑month position has the potential to become permanent. The incumbent provides group and individual assessment, education, advocacy, and counselling to children and youth between the ages of 3 and 18 who have witnessed domestic violence in the home. Provides emotional and parenting support for parents regarding the impact on their children of witnessing violence. This position starts immediately and is for a period of six months, with the possibility of becoming a permanent position and an increase in hours

Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in related human/social service field including diploma in expressive therapies or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years recent, related counselling experience with children who have witnessed and/or experienced violence.

Other Information:
- This is a temporary position with potential to become part‑time and permanent.
- The position receives an additional 10.6% in lieu of benefits. There are no extended health benefits attached to this position.
- The position requires continued Union membership with BCGEU.
- The wage is consistent with Wage Grid 14P [$40.03 to $50.59] of the Collective Agreement.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours to meet program needs
- Must hold a valid Frist Aid certificate
