JOB Posting Transition House Women’s Support Worker (Casual)

Nelson Community Services (NCS) Aimee Beaulieu Transition House Program is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a casual Women’s Support Worker position. The worker will provide a wide range of services required in supporting women in the Transition House Program. Services are delivered within a feminist and trauma-informed practice framework and place priority on women’s safety. Qualifications:

Education: Diploma in human services or related field or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of experience supporting vulnerable women and children leaving violence and/or other vulnerable populations.

Other Information:

  1. Must be willing to work 12-hour solo day and night shifts, including on weekends.
  2. Must be able to manage well in a stressful environment dealing with clients in crisis situations and that may portray mental health and/or substance use issues.
  3. Must hold a valid First Aid Certificate.
  4. Must be available to work prime holiday shifts (stat holidays, summer, Christmas)

The casual employee is required to work day/night shifts, weekdays and weekends as needed.  Shifts are 12 hours in length, night shift is a sleep shift.  This position requires Union membership with BCGEU. The wage is consistent with Wage Grid 11 [$31.56 to $33.49 per hour] of the Collective Agreement. This position is open to female applicants only given the nature of the programming being provided at the Transition House. Specific job orientation and training is provided.
