JOB Posting – Temporary Stopping the Violence Counsellor

Nelson Community Services is seeking a Stopping the Violence Counsellor. The incumbent in this position provides counselling and related support services for women who have experienced various forms of violence and abuse.  Program services are delivered within a feminist framework and place priority on the safety of women. This in office position is 4 days per week starting immediately until May 23, 2026.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in counselling, social work or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Experience:

Minimum of two (2) years’ recent experience in counseling women who have experienced recent or historical trauma, violence, and abuse.

Other Information:

  1. Must be willing to work flexible hours to meet program demands.
  2. Must hold a valid First Aid Certificate.
  3. Criminal Record Check required.
  4. The position is entitled to an additional 10.6% in lieu of annual leave and statutory holidays as per the Collective Agreement.
  5. The position requires continued Union membership with BCGEU.
  6. The wage is consistent with Wage Grid 14P [$40.03 to $50.59] of the Collective Agreement.
