Temporary Family Preservation Worker

Nelson Community Services is seeking a temporary full-time Family Preservation Worker. The incumbent in this position gathers information on and assesses family functioning problems. Develops and implements intervention plans within program guidelines. Provides referrals, support, guidance and problem solving to clients to address issues related to family functioning. Provides parenting skill building, emotional support and feedback to clients. Provides supervision for family visits. This full-time position (35hrs) starts immediately and is for a period of six months with the possibility of extension.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related human services/ social services field.

Experience:

Minimum of one (1) years’ recent related experience. Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Other Information:

  1. The position is entitled to annual leave, sick leave, and extended health benefits as per the Collective Agreement.
  2. The position requires continued Union membership with BCGEU.
  3. The wage is consistent with Wage Grid 12 JJEP [$29.17 to 33.49] of the Collective Agreement.
  4. Must be willing to work flexible hours to meet the needs of families, including traveling to communities surrounding Nelson.
  5. Must hold a valid Frist Aid certificate
  6. Must hold a valid Driver’s License and have access to a reliable, safe, clean vehicle with appropriate insurance.
