Nelson Community Services has successfully renewed its accreditation with COA — Council on Accreditation.
We are committed to this accreditation process as it vouches for our professional and qualified services, programs, and administration of Nelson Community Services Society.
The Council on Accreditation (COA) is an international, independent, nonprofit, human service accrediting organization. Founded in 1977 by the Child Welfare League of America and Family Service America (now the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities), our mission is to partner with human service organizations worldwide to improve service delivery outcomes by developing, applying and promoting accreditation standards. We envision excellence in the delivery of human services globally, resulting in the well-being of individuals, families, and communities.
COA accredits the full continuum of child welfare, behavioural health, and community-based social services. We currently accredit more than 2,200 organizations and programs serving more than 7 million individuals and families.
The Standards for Canadian Organizations were developed in support of enhanced organizational growth and stability, an unwavering commitment to the health, safety, and rights of clients, and producing high quality, measurable results.
Because the Canadian Organization Accreditation process involves the review and accreditation of the entire organization, the standards focus on both its administrative operations and all of its service delivery practices for which COA has an applicable standard.
NCS is a multi-service, multi-funded non-profit agency that has been serving our community since 1972.
NCS has a volunteer Board of Directors who share their vision, mission and values.
OUR MISSION: To support the well-being of families, youth, and individuals in our community by providing counselling, housing, support, and outreach services.
OUR VISION: A compassionate and empowered community where families, youth and individuals receive the supports and services they need to live dignified, resilient and hopeful lives.
Nelson Community Services acknowledges that the land upon which we offer our services is the traditional territory of the peoples who have lived here for thousands of years — the Ktunaxa, the Sylix, and the Sinixt. We respect and honour all our relations.
